King of the Northwoods, the magnificent stands of virgin white pine were the primary impetus that spurred early white settlement of northwest Wisconsin. Beginning around 1880 logging camps and lumber mills sprouted up all around the Cable area. The 22 acres on which the lodge now sits was once owned by the giant North Wisconsin Lumber Company. Fortunately white pines gradually are returning to their former prominence. One of these young monarchs is framed in the large window adjacent to your beautiful cherry Queen bed.
